The Fourth of July weekend on Amelia is a time of year that just feels fun before it even starts.
Downtown gets busier, beach chairs start appearing earlier in the morning, and everyone’s busy making plans. Cookouts, fireworks, dinners, beach days, boat days, and the classic “just come by for a little bit” that turn into the entire evening…and honestly, we love all of it.
The Fourth has never really felt overly formal to us. It’s more about throwing on a cute outfit, grabbing a fun bag, bringing something to snack on, and seeing where the day takes you.
What We’re Wearing This Year
Around here, we love a festive outfit, but we still want to wear it again after July 4th.
So this year, we’re leaning into easy summer pieces that feel fun, comfortable, and effortless enough for a full day out in the Florida heat. We are reaching for the lightweight dresses, white denim, soft red and blue touches, fun jewelry, and sandals you can actually walk in.
We also simply cannot forget to have one of our favorite kind of bags: totes. These are the ones that are big enough for sunscreen, snacks, sunglasses, and whatever else you end up collecting from the day. Because if there’s one thing about Fourth of July plans, they usually end up lasting longer than expected.
Hosting, the Twisted Sisters Way
We’ve always loved the kind of summer gatherings that feel relaxed and easy.
The ones where people spend the day swimming, food stays on the counter for everyone to snack on, and somebody’s always outside checking on the grill. Where conversations move from the kitchen to the backyard, music is playing in the background, and everyone feels comfortable enough to stay awhile.
Our favorite Fourth of July moments are usually the simple ones:
- Long afternoons by the pool or beach
- Easy food everyone can share
- Cold drinks outside
- Friends and family gathered together
- Staying outside until the fireworks start
Those are the moments that make summer feel special.
The Little Extras That Make It Feel Like Summer
One thing about the sisters… we love the accessories and little details.
- The fun tote bag you carry everywhere all weekend.
- The colorful serving tray you end up using all summer long.
- A stack of bracelets with a simple outfit.
- The little red, white, and blue touches that make things feel festive without trying too hard.
The Best Fourth of July Moments Usually Aren’t Planned
At the end of the day, it’s rarely the reservations or the schedule we remember most anyway. It’s everyone sitting outside after dark watching fireworks from wherever you happened to end up, the random group photos nobody planned to take, running into people you know downtown, and staying out way later than you meant to.
Stop By Before the Holiday Weekend
